Truffle Devils
These easy to make treats are very popular at Christmas time
Ingredients
- 1 Frosted Red Velvet Cake (Woolworths) OR
- 1 Pkt Red Velvet Cake Mix
- Small quantity brandy (or other spirit)
- 2 Lindt Dark Chili Chocolate Blocks
- Chili flakes (optional)
- Decorative hearts or flowers (optional)
- Truffle size patty pans
Method
- Mash up cake and frosting with small quantity brandy until smooth
OR make up cake mix and frosting according to instructions on the packet then mash up cake and frosting with brandy until smooth
- Mixture should be firm enough to form balls.
- Refrigerate for a day to make mixture easier to hand
- Roll into small balls and place on lined tray
- Melt chocolate
- Coat balls in chocolate (using 2 forks or teaspoons)
- Sprinkle with a few chili flakes or other decoration if desired
- Allow to harden then place into small patty pans
- Makes approximately 40 (depending on the size of the balls)
Tip
- To make Truffle Angels, use a vanilla cake, white chocolate and desiccated coconut.
- Store in the refrigerator if necessary (especially in the heat of an Australian Christmas
- Place some in a decorative box or basket to make an excellent present
